Mummy Dogs: It’s What’s for Halloween Dinner

Face-Mummy-Dog

You’ve put together cute costumes and bought boatloads of candy . . . carved the pumpkin and decorated the doorstep. . . even practiced your best ‘come closer, my pretties’ cackle. But have you thought about what’s for dinner on Halloween night? Nah, me neither–til I remembered this phantasmal favorite:  Mummy Dogs. No, I’m not suggesting you poach the. . .[Read More]

SU Color Coach: Wisconsin Cranberry Nut Pie Recipe Card

2010.08_RecipePie

Last year, I shared our family’s traditional holiday meal on my Thanksgiving mini menu board, and started scrapping some of those delicious recipes in a 6×6 format. But one recipe–one of the best, in fact–defied all efforts to be scrapped:  Wisconsin Cranberry Nut Pie.  My challenge in scrapping this crowd-pleasing recipe was two-fold.  First, I didn’t have a. . .[Read More]

Zoofari/Classic Stripes: Drawing Battlelines around the Tomatoes

This is serious.

Early planting and a cool, wet spring.  This year, the tomatoes on our patio took off like never before. Buds burst into blooms and then began to swell.  Greedily and gleefully, we watched–breath baited–as the fruits slowly ripened. But we were not alone. Sanded: Holly’s Tri-Color Soup (Recipe Card)

When time is short, this recipe always satisfies.

Another creation for Barbara’s 6×6 recipe card swap at the Stampin Addicts Convention Meet & Greet. For the soup section, I chose one of my DH’s favorites:  Holly’s Tri-Color Soup.  DH swears I am the Soup Queen, but really the secret is in the sauteed garlic.  But hey, if it gives me an excuse to wear. . .[Read More]

Mark the Date: Giardiniera Salad alla Laura (Recipe Card)

Look closely--can you see the micro glitter window?

Another creation for Barbara’s 6×6 recipe card swap at the Stampin Addicts Convention Meet & Greet.  For the salad section, I featured Giardiniera Salad alla Laura.  (Laura’s the Italian lady who teaches cooking classes at our local rec center.) This super easy recipe is also super flavorful.  And the tang of the giardiniera makes it a. . .[Read More]

Simple Flower Embosslit: Hearts of Palm Spread (Recipe Card)

Delectible dish for entertaining. . . .

Here’s another creation for Barbara’s 6×6 recipe card swap at the Stampin Addicts Convention Meet & Greet. For the appetizer section, I chose a hot dip: Hearts of Palm Spread. Trendy Trees: Cinnamon Ice Cream (Recipe Card)

Cinnamon ice cream, a refreshing change of pace for the holidays

This recipe card features Holly’s Cinnamon Ice Cream, another dish from my Thanksgiving Mini Menu Board.  I first had cinnamon ice cream when I was working in Korea in the early 90s.  It was all the rage there, but when I returned home, no one seemed to have ever heard of it.

Wanted: Easy Corn Relish (punch art ear of corn)

A make-ahead dish as yummy as it is easy

Another recipe card (this one with a coordinating punch art idea) from my Thanksgiving Mini Menu Board.   For the side dish section of Barb’s 2009 6×6 recipe card swap at the Stampin Addicts’ 2009 Convention Meet & Greet, I chose Easy Corn Relish, the quickest dish to prepare on my menu.
