Here’s how to create the block dreidels featured in this place setting ensemble for Hanukkah (or Chanukah, if you prefer), in three small bites:
- Punch. Use punches (Large Tag, Extra Large Tag, Jewelry Tag, 3/4″ Square, 3/4″x15/16″ Oval) to create these shapes from your desired colors of cardstock and patterned paper.
- Modify. Sponge edges of oval with shimmer paint and coordinating ink to complement your cardstock choice. Layer patterned paper onto cardstock tag for a matted effect. On the reverse side of the tag, glue on jewelry tag and square to form dreidel’s handle and tip.
- Complete. With a mini glue dot, adhere oval to face of dreidel. Mount dreidel on a Stampin’ Dimensional, if desired. Stand back and admire your work!

Tips and notes:
- To add definition to the oval with the Hebrew lettering, gently run the edge of the oval over the edge of your inkpad.
- If you’ll be using your punch art dreidel with punch art gelt coins (as the Hanukkah place setting pieces do), you can coordinate your shimmer paint choice with the color of your gelt coin– Champagne Mist for gold coins or Frost White or Platinum for silver coins.
- The dreidel in this tutorial is done in Not Quite Navy, Pacific Point, Very Vanilla and Blueberry Crisp DSP, the same as the original project.)
So, how will you use a punch art dreidel? Better yet, show us–leave a comment with a link to your project featuring the dreidel (with a link back to this post) so we can come admire too!
