Repost – VC Rocks July Blog Hop: Christmas Lights Spring Card & Blog Candy

NOTE:  The Dog and I would like to give a special thank you to Kim (s1itcher46) for her invaluable assistance in helping us overcome technical difficulties earlier today.  Also, thanks to all our subscribers and other visitors for your patience while the situation was being resolved.

Welcome to Stop #4 on the VC Rocks! 2010 July Blog Hop
.
If you’re hopping in order, you’ve just been admiring Marisol’s delightful creations at A Touch of Sol.
.
Here at InkPaperStamps, we’re getting ready for Christmas with the Sizzix Bigz L Island Floral die (a Stampin’ Up! exclusive) and the July Fourth set from the Summer Mini.
.
To add to the fun, we’re also offering some blog candy!
.
Today’s project pairs Wild Wasabi with Real Red for a vibrant Christmas color combo.  Brushed Silver cardstock and Platinum shimmer paint add a hint of shine.  The threads on a C9 bulb are suggested by a few well-placed lines of Crystal Effects.
.
Inked up with Versamark, an image from July Fourth creates a fun yet understated background.  At first glance in the Summer Mini, this image represents a sparkler or fireworks, fun touches for patriotic stamping.  But don’t pack this one away on July 5th– it also works as the twinkle from a string of lights, a burst of snow flurries, a glimmer off a glass ornament and so much more.

quick easy cute fun: projects for paper crafters

Comments from our esteemed visitors--hey, that would be you!:

  1. Kari says:

I like the card fold you used, it goes well with the simplicity of the card. It is a complicated looking fold with a very good focal point of the bulb. Nice!

  2. jengd says:

Those fireworks remind me a lot of dandelion fluff- they’d make a cute, light summery card.

  3. jengd says:

    I subscribe to you

  4. Anita A says:

I like to use the stars for boy cards. For example you are a star. I already subscribe. Stunning card!

  5. lisa808 says:

Great spring card. Some not so creative ideas for the July 4 set would be to use the star & firecracker for birthday cards, the fireworks for snowflakes, and also the fireworks for New Year’s cards.

  6. Rufus says:

Great card! I use my 4th of July stamps year round to make Any Hero cards for Operation Write Home! Also use the fireworks type for celebration cards.

  7. Deborah says:

I did a card using this die as a Christmas bulb too. Too funny. I like your sponging on the bulb for the reflecting light.

  8. Kimber Dunn says:

Love this project!! The different fold is great fun!! Thanks so much for being a fabulous part of the 3rd Blog Hop!!

  9. Noelle M says:
